• Break the descent at Seegrube — the one-return rule reads the full chain as one journey each way; the terrace stop on the way down is the free upgrade most riders miss.
• Layers, always — the top runs alpine-cold over the city’s summer; the 15-degree gap surprises every year.

Without the card — what the mountain costs alone

Honest pricing for comparison: the Nordkettenbahnen’s own zoo-plus-summit combi lists at $71 (4.6/5 from 410 bookings) — the right buy for a mountain-and-zoo day without the wider card — and the funicular-plus-zoo lower-section combi at $27 serves families staying below the ridge. Against those, the €69 card needs only one more door to win — which is the whole site’s thesis in one sentence.
